We want to be completely transparent with you: our listed burn times are not a guarantee. Instead they are realistic averages based on thorough testing. Because every home is different, your actual burn time experience will vary slightly depending on your room's environment and candle care habits.
Why Beeswax Burn Times Vary
- Wick Length - Longer wicks will cause the flame to be larger, making the wax burn faster, and may even start to smoke.
- Drafts - Air currents speed up the candle’s burn via convection.
- Ambient Temps - Warmer rooms mean faster melting, as the beeswax is room temperature and needs less energy to burn itself.
- Natural Materials - Beeswax is a natural material gathered from honey bees. We do filter the beeswax to remove dirt, particles, etc - even so, variations from year to year, batch to batch, will slightly affect burn times (either UP or DOWN) based on the amount of microscopic particles remaining in the beeswax.
How to Maximize Burn Times
- Wick Care - Trim the wick to 1/4” before use. Keep the wick trimmed to 1/4”.
- Avoid Drafts - Burn candles only in a draft-free environment away from fans, open windows, air ducts, etc. This will help to prevent dripping and/or smoking.
- Burn Session Time - Burn your candle for the listed minimum burn times. This will help to avoid tunneling and allowing you to gently push the sides in towards the wick for pillar candles (i.e. hugging).
- Votives - If the votive candle has less than 1/2" of beeswax remaining, let it burn out completely, as the wick will be too short to relight it if you extinguish it.
- Tea Lights - Ideally a beeswax tea light candle will burn longest if left to burn entirely during one session. If the tea light candle has already used up more than half of its wax, let it burn out completely as you will not be able to relight it if you extinguish it.
