About This Beeswax Candle

Defining Purity

Our solid beeswax taper candles are hand poured using lightly filtered 100% pure beeswax from the USA. All of our beeswax tapers are clean burning & dripless. Each hypo-allergenic beeswax taper candle uses a lead-free cotton wick.

Elegant and Romantic

Add the finishing touch to your table setting with these elegant beeswax taper candles. Show your romantic side and light up the face of the one you love with a set of tall taper beeswax candles. Tapers are suited for tables and fireplace mantles.

Honey Scented

Honey Scented

Our beeswax candles are naturally honey scented. Scent varies slightly based on honey, pollen, and propolis present in the beeswax.

A candle's scent throw varies based on personal sensitivities and environment.

Burn Time

Burn Time

Burn time is a close approximation and will vary somewhat based on your environment and burning preferences.

Our burn times are conservative averages, not a guarantee. Results will vary. Proper wick maintenance helps.

Candle Size

Candle Size

We hand pour all of our beeswax candles and the dimensions listed may vary just a little with each candle.

Our beeswax taper candles have an approximate base width of 7/8" and fit most standard size taper holders.

note icon Note - Are these tapers intended as gifts? If so, please click the Yes checkbox next to "Label each Pair". When this box is checked we'll wrap each pair of tapers with their own label. Generally we wrap tapers together in multiple pairs using a single label to avoid paper waste.

Why You'll Love Our Beeswax Candles
100% Pure Beeswax

100% Pure Beeswax

We use only clean, lightly filtered, 100% pure beeswax from beeswax cappings in our beeswax candles, with no fillers or additives. It's non-toxic properties make it perfect for a clean burning and bright fuel source as a beeswax candle.

Unlike most manufactured paraffin candles, beeswax is hypo-allergenic, great for people with allergies or other sensitivities, and those of us who want a clean burning candle in our homes.

100% Cotton Wick

100% Cotton Wick

Bee Hive Candles' philosophy is creating beeswax candles that are all natural and clean burning. We use lead-free cotton wick in every beeswax candle we make. Be wary as some imported paraffin candles may still contain lead wicks.

All of our beeswax candles use a properly sized lead-free wick to provide a bright flame and optimum wax pool to prevent tunneling.

Smoke and Soot Free

Smoke & Soot Free

Using beeswax candles is an excellent way to keep your home free of the smoke and soot that is a common result of burning paraffin candles.

When burned in a draft free environment with the wick trimmed to 1/4" a beeswax candle will burn bright and clean with virtually no smoke or soot.

Incredibly Long Burn Times

Incredibly Long Burn Times

Our solid beeswax candles are the most durable and long lasting candles on the market. They burn brighter, longer, and cleaner than any other type of candle. Although beeswax candles appears to cost more, they are usually a better value than paraffin when comparing total burn times.

Try our beeswax candles, the incredibly long burn time will simply amaze you!

Natural Honey Scent and Color

Natural Honey Scent & Color

Our beeswax comes direct from beekeepers in the northern US where the honey bees fly among raspberries, canola, clover, and wildflowers. The resulting wax is a beautiful shade of yellow that has an aromatic honey fragrance. We simply reshape the bees' creation; the color and the scent are made by the hardworking bees.

We do not add anything to our beeswax and only filter out the large particles that could interfere with the flame. (We add dye to our "colored" candles, see the Color Info tab above.)

Naturally Drip Resistant

Naturally Drip Resistant

A beeswax candle is less likely to drip than other types of candles because of the complex molecular structure and higher melting point of beeswax. This allows the wick to burn the molten beeswax at just the right pace so it doesn't drip out of the wax pool. These qualities combined with a properly maintained wick, a level burning surface, and draft free environment will help prevent drips from occurring.

Beeswax candles are naturally drip resistant. Paraffin candles require chemical additives, like stearic acid, to make them drip less.

Hand Poured and Hand Finished

Hand Poured & Hand Finished

We pour each solid beeswax pillar, taper, votive, and tea light candle by hand. It takes an experienced hand to ensure each candle is crafted correctly - we don't want any air bubbles, crooked wicks, or other imperfections. Each candle is inspected to ensure it's quality. We have no "factory second" beeswax candles; if the candle doesn't make the grade, it goes right back into the wax melter.

Some candle makers will ship you their product directly after removing it from the mold where it is often unleveled, uneven, and simply unattractive. We've always taken the time to carefully hand finish each candle so that our beeswax candles are as stunning to look at as they are beautiful to burn.

Beeswax May Have Health Benefits

Beeswax May Have Health Benefits

Negative ions are most commonly found near moving water, such as crashing waves, thunderstorms, and waterfalls. Negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy.

While it is still debated and not yet scientifically proven, it is believed that there are other natural negative ion generators too, including our specialty, beeswax candles.

Color Info
Naturally Colored Beeswax

Naturally Colored Beeswax

The raw beeswax we use comes from the hive as a light golden yellow color, which we call "Natural" when we refer to the candle's color. The natural color of beeswax is determined by the remaining pollen and propolis in the wax; this color varies a little between each batch.

Our naturally colored beeswax candles do not contain any dyes or additives.

Color Added Beeswax

Color-Added Beeswax

All of our color-added beeswax candles (Holiday Red, Hunter Green, etc.) contain a very small amount of dye to achieve their vibrant colors.

The dyes do not contain hazardous solvents or additives (such as naphtha or naphthalene used in other dyes). The dyes are never tested on animals. No dye ingredients are on the California Prop 65 list of cancer causing ingredients.

Color Dyes

Color Dyes

The dyes we use for our colored beeswax candles are formulated with eco-friendly ingredients. They offer excellent color consistency and strength for crisp, clean, bright candles. The colored dye makes up a very small percentage of the overall beeswax candle, much less than 1%.

Vibrant Colors

Vibrant Colors

Our brightly colored beeswax pillars give you more choices when burning beeswax and are an easy way to add a splash of excitement to your candle arrangements. Our natural colored beeswax does not contain dye.

Available in a variety of bold colors. 100% pure beeswax, all cotton wick.

Antique Look

Antique Look

Our colorful beeswax candles can be kept polished for a shiny modern look or let their age show by allowing the bloom to appear over time.

The bright color is a great backdrop for showcasing the white antique finish of the bloom.

Safety & Burning Tips
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep candles away from children and pets.
  • Keep candles away from flammable materials or overly crowded settings.
  • Remove paper label from candle before burning.
  • Burn candles only in a draft-free environment away from fans, open windows, air ducts, etc. This will help to prevent dripping or smoking.
  • Light the wick from the base of the wick, where the wick comes out of the candle, to allow the beeswax to absorb into the wick. A lighter works best.
  • Taper wick maintenance - Before lighting the first time trim the wick to 1/4". Before relighting you may trim the very tip of the wick to remove any particles gathered in the wick. The wick generally trims itself as it burns. Trimming the wick too short may cause the candle to drip (it burns and melts the delicate side wall which contain the wax pool).
